The first weekend of the Premier League season 2010/11 has left us here at Ransacker contemplating a few wee things, and making our usual mix of unusual observations…
Another big day of World Cup football, as Italy were knocked out of the competition as Paraguay and Slovakia progressed from Group F, whereas mighty Holland and Japan topped Group E thanks to some wonderful goals in their respective matches!
The final group stage games for Group A and B saw Mexico and Uruguay qualify courtesy of Luis Suarez’s goal in his adidas F50 Adizero football boots, and Argentina topped the group with a standard victory over Greece to send them through along with South Korea who saw out a 2-2 draw with Nigeria!
But enough of the doom and gloom of the World Cup so far, the battle between mine and Ben’s Nike and Adidas teams is underway, and what a start I have made!
To make the World Cup a bit more interesting, fellow Ransacker writer Gary Cutler and I are going to be battling against each other in a new Ransacker fantasy football where we both have to select a Nike XI, Adidas XI, and Puma XI.
