No real contest in the Boot Wars battle from the weekend, as Everton’s Joleon Lescott and his Nike Total 90 Laser II boots made relative mince-meat out of Wigan’s Ben Watson in his Adidas Predator Powerswerves.

We predicted a tense clash between two of the best recruits from the Championships, but this was a wholly one-sided affair that impressed many.

But that’s nothing to the astonishment that the Total 90 boot has finally clocked up its first Boot Wars victory, after three previous defeats. It’s too late for it to catch the frontrunners, but it’s good to see the old favourite back on its feet. Literally.
