Matteo from North London asks:
Hello Ransacker – how safe is it to order online these days with the recession seemingly closing retailers by the day? What would happen if a company receives an order but can’t fulfil it?.. – I’m worried..
Boot Boffins Answer:
Worry no longer, Matteo. Online remains the safety way to buy sporting goods, not to mention by far the most cost-effective. It’s true though, these are tough times, and for all concerned. Spare a thought for poor old ITV having to throw in an impromptu ad break last night just to cover the electricity bill this month – IDIOTS! Anyway if, like ITV, you’re worried about your online transmissions, don’t be.
Evidence suggests that online retailers are much less likely to go under than those with premises (fewer overheads, you see), and while you still can’t guarantee that everyone is going to survive, you can protect against any loss by purchasing with a credit card. Virtually all lenders refund their customers if they fail to receive goods, or if you’ve paid for them and send them back. Just phone up your credit card, explain the situation, and get a credit.
And remember, the more you shop around the first place, the more you save… or in the case of Ransacker, the less you shop around, the more you save, because we do the work for you!
