The England XI Football Boots – Right Midfield

November 24th, 2011 by Simon Tingle | Comment

With England set to find out their group opponents at Euro 2012 next Friday (2nd Dec) we thought it would be a good time to continue our look at the England XI football boots.  England are in the second seed group of the draw and could face the tricky prospect of Spain, Portugal, France or the Rep of Ireland in their group.

One man who is sure to be keeping a close eye on the draw is Arsenal and England forward Theo Walcott.  Walcott has become a regular in Capello’s side recently and, barring injury, almost seems guaranteed a place in the Euro 2012 squad.

It’s hard to believe that Walcott is still only 22-years-old, having made his England debut over five years ago, when he became England’s youngest ever senior football player on 30th May 2006.  Walcott made his first competitive start for his country in the world cup qualifier against Andorra on 6th September 2008.  He broke the record books again on 10th September 2008 as he became the youngest player ever to score a hat-trick for England in their 4-1 win against Croatia.

Walcott’s main strength is obvious – his blistering pace is enough to scare even the tightest of defences – but he has also improved other areas of his game over the past couple of seasons.  Early in his career, Walcott was often criticized for having little end product but the ex-Southampton youngster has massively improved both his passing and finishing game in recent times.  If the Arsenal forward can keep on improving during the 2011-12 Premier League season then he could well end up being England’s most dangerous player at Euro 2012.

Walcott has impressed for both Arsenal and England this season while wearing a pair of Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly III – Volt/Purple/Retro boots. The Mercurial Vapors are from Nike’s popular speed boot range and are designed to make players like Walcott stand out on the pitch so his team mates can get the ball to him faster.  The boots feature an asymmetric pattern and a fluorescent visual acuity graphic on the heel and instep that is designed to make the Mercurial Vapor Superfly III Nike’s most visible boots to date.

The boot features a soft and supple teijjin synthetic leather upper with incorporated Flywire technology which Nike say provides ‘ultra light-weight support and comfort for your foot.’ The super-light weight of the boot is also aided by a carbon-fibre chassis, which strips weight to the absolute minimum, while maximising strength.
