The West London showdown maybe gave usherance to a few things out in these early days of the Premier League campaign. I have assembled these musings as follows:
- Damien Duff isn’t worth £50k a week.
- Chelsea will be as strong as ever this season
- The evidence that the Europa League will disturb Fulham’s Premier League prospect has been proved after only one game against unpronouncable opposition
- Petr Cech really doesn’t need to wear that silly hat still
All that aside, our first Boot Wars battle of the season went much to plan, certainly as far as Chelsea were concerned. Jose Bosingwa started last season like a train before ending up shunting himself almost into the sidings by the end of the campaign. Certainly in his Nike Tiempo Legend III boots he appeared in little trouble against Duff’s Adidas adiPure . Its strong tackling ability combined with measured passing range – if not the power and force with which the likes of which goalscorers Drogba and Anelka might rely – meant that it was an easy win for the Portuguese on the way to similarly simple rewards for the Blues. Job done, Carlo!
Bosingwa (Nike Tiempo Legend III) 3-0 Duff (Adidas adiPure)
