It’s funny how things turn out. I didn’t really think my Sports Science dissertation into the effects of Pronation would really benefit me in the future. However after 8 years and 2 intensive years studying running shoes for Ransacker I wrote my first article for Men’s Fitness Magazine this month. Hence, the witty people in the office have now named me a “Shoelebrity”!!
Men’s Fitness Magazine asked Ransacker.co.uk to review 15 running shoes for their Jan/Feb magazine. The article can be found on page 30-31.
Of the 15 shoes we tested there was two surprising results and an early indication of what’s to come from New Balance and adidas in 2009. The New Balance 1063 really impressed us with its near perfect ride whilst the adidas adistar Salvation provided a luxurious fit and feel.
New Balance 1063 – Score 4/5
Another step in the right direction for New Balance. Stable, comfortable and responsive, the 1063 provides ample cushioning and support. ABZORB cushioning in the heel and forefoot are complemented by the Stability Web which reduces weight and allows the foot to move efficiently. The 1063 struggles at high speed but is built for long distances and won’t let you down.

adidas adiStar Salvation – Score 5/5
The adistar Salvation should have been called the adistar Temptation. The adistar Salvation has practically everything you want in running shoe; its sleek looking, luxurious and dynamic. The FormationTM works effectively against pronation and the GeoFit+ TM Collar forms a perfect fit, but all these added features do come at the expense of a little more weight and price. If you are planning on running a marathon consider treating yourself to a pair.
